ABOUT US


  • The Excise Department was set up as an independent Department with effect from 01.12.1999 after being carved out of the erstwhile Revenue and Excise Department. It is a resource generation Department of the State, which enforces the State Excise laws in the State. As empowered in Article-47 of the Constitution of India, the Endeavor of the Government has been to ensure that the existing demand is met by legitimate and safe supply of reasonable quality of liquor. Any short supply of legitimate liquor is bound to result in bootlegging/ spurious liquor for filling up the gap, which would endanger public safety.
